Industrial Park Warehouse. From Supplier to Partner and Beyond – Warehouse Solutions for Orion Industrial Park in San Salvador

Like many companies, Allied Steel Buildings weathered 2020 by thinking creatively and putting our resources to good use.

Amidst so many unprecedented global challenges we chose to document our obstacles and success stories in a series of videos that we shared on LinkedIn. One of our videos caught the attention of the construction director of several large-scale projects in San Salvador and the timing couldn’t have been better.

Impressed by Allied’s demonstrated ability to honor our commitments, from sourcing hard-to-find materials to meeting tight timeline requirements and beyond, the client asked us to bid on two projects, the smaller of which we secured immediately. By the end of the year, thanks to the initial project’s success and the help of a competitive proposal, we were given the green light on their second project: our first warehouse for Orion Industrial Park.

Remarkable Milestone: The First From Our Factory

In order to meet the client’s required timeline, Allied committed to fabricating all of the project’s primary steel from our highly anticipated new manufacturing facility. Confident in our ability to navigate challenges of this scale, we successfully expedited our factory’s completion and the push paid off. By March 2021, we had begun fabrication for Orion Industrial Park’s Block A.

Despite facing unpredictable freight costs and schedules, Allied demonstrated our resourcefulness and problem-solving strengths, identifying alternative shipping routes and collaborating with time-tested vendors to deliver the project on schedule by March 2022. By surpassing the client’s expectations for efficiency, quality, and speed Allied emerged once more as the client’s preferred choice for two new additions to the park.

Iterating on Past Successes

Intended as an expansion to the park’s existing offerings, the goal for Block C and D was to iterate upon the successes of Block A, while also seizing the opportunity to incorporate improvements and address any lessons learned. Allied adopted a collaborative approach to design, joining forces once more with our trusted design partner. Our proposed scope allowed for a more efficient structure in terms of design, coordination, and fabrication, and only included slight modifications to the roof and wall accessories, gutters and downspouts, and the roof cap.

Both buildings consist of a pre-engineered steel frame with a standing seam roof, that showcase Allied’s dedication to precision and quality. The roof, proposed by Allied as an innovative solution to safeguard the warehouses from moisture, was unrolled on-site as a single sheet without overlaps, bolts, or holes.

With all internal resources mobilized, both buildings were engineered and fabricated at the same time. Thanks to similarities in scope and the convenience of both designs utilizing repeated frames, Allied honored our commitment to the client’s required timeline, ensuring timely delivery beginning in September 2022 and completion by early 2023.
