PROJECT OVERVIEW

Collision Center Warehouse

Tennessee Steel Buildings

John Barb’s family has a long history of excavating and construction in his native Tennessee.

“My family has been doing it for over 80 years,” said Barb. “My father and his brother worked for a lot of companies. We built a building for Raytheon and the Naval Department back in ’71 that they inevitably used it for Operation Desert Storm when that happened.”

Barb and his wife have also done a lot of work with Brooks Collision Center. According to him, the location in Piney Flats is one of the largest stops on the East Coast, with offices in 9 states.

“We’ve done a lot of work for Budweiser, Coors, and Coca-Cola, to name a few,” said Barb. Everyone brings their trucks and vehicles to him. “We’ve painted hundreds of vehicles. We hold some of the largest DuPont paint coaches in the country.”

They’ve also handled a lot of the NASCAR racing stock cars, vans, and two trailers that they’ve built and changed color schemes themselves. They work anywhere from Buffalo, NY, Miami, FL to Great Plains, KS.

When their business started to expand and their needs were growing they decided to talk to Allied Steel Buildings.

“Mr. Brooks already had a warehouse,” recalled Barb. “What we wanted to do was modify two additional buildings to the existing one. It was going to be a $300,000 project. We didn’t mind spending money on it, it was worth it, and we were pleased to work with Allied Steel.”

Barb heard about Allied Steel Buildings and their superior service while working on various projects as a sub-contractor for Brooks Collision Center, and Star.

“Everything was fine when I worked with Allied Steel,” said Barb. “I contacted Rick and Scott, and they hooked us up with what we needed; I am very pleased with the help they and everyone at Allied gave us. The whole process went well. I would rather deal with Allied. It’s a lot cheaper, and their Building Services Group is top notch in making sure everyone is where they’re supposed to be.”

Barb had no worries about putting their future storing buildings up.

“We own tractors and trailers so we didn’t have to worry about freight,” said Barb. “We could go to the plant in Bristol and pick up the buildings, bring them to the location and put them up. We were set up well with scissor lifts and sky jacks, so everything went very smoothly.”

Both buildings, the 24 X 70 X 20 and the 28 X 50 X 16, were completed by the first of January, and Barb couldn’t be happier with the results.

“We’ll be looking into doing more business with Allied in the future. They’ve done a lot to help us with Brooks Collision Center.”
