Brewery Steel Building. A Brewery-Bar for Miline in Miami, FL

In mid 2019, when residential and commercial developer ZOM Living began the process of developing a highly anticipated new brewery and bar in Miami, Florida, they had a clear idea of what they wanted the project to look like. Envisioning a weathered industrial aesthetic, they entrusted the project’s general contractor to source a building solution that could bring this vision to life at a competitive price, which led them directly to Allied Steel Buildings. Tasked with conceptualizing and developing the brewery and bar’s design, Allied worked with the client for weeks in a collaborative process that led to the look of a building unlike any other that Allied has designed before.

A New Look for Allied

With an emphasis on featuring exposed steel wherever possible, the building consists of two sections of varying heights with completely open but roofed sections at either end for outdoor gathering. An enclosed space in the center houses the brewery, with glass roll-up garage doors that lend to an open and airy feel. Evenly weathered steel was used to achieve the client’s desired industrial look, which despite this not being a feature that Allied is known for, was executed to impressive results.

As a relatively simple structure consisting of exposed steel frames, 24 gauge PBR roof and walls, with extended overhangs and canopies, the building posed few engineering challenges, despite extra considerations that were needed to account for the structure’s abundance of glass. Allied paid particular attention to colors of the panels chosen for the outside and the underside of the overhangs, selecting corrugated panels in industrial browns, blacks, and greys that complimented the exposed steel’s rustic look. The front of the building opens onto a recreational walkway that connects the brewery to the development’s residential and retail outlets, making it a highly visible and eye-catching attraction.

Ready at a Moment’s Notice

After a seamless design sprint, the project was impacted by pandemic-related complications, with the client ultimately placing it on hold for several months. Despite this, Allied was ready to mobilize and deliver at a moment’s notice and with the resourcefulness of our time tested partnerships, we overcame supply chain shortages and began delivering materials as requested by September 2021, ensuring installation was complete by January 2022.
