We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for high value projects. This individual manages the scheduling, budgeting, resource management, logistics and primary client communication for mid to high complexity projects utilizing PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings) and conventional steel framing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Sales and Technical Sales Support staff in the assessment of targeted projects and in the preparation of presentations and proposals
  • Verifies pre contract project activities as part of establishing project action plans (order clarity)
  • Prepares project management action plans to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets and overall project customer experience excellence
  • Organizes, coordinates and facilitates project teams and resources to meet project objectives
  • Evaluates and understands projects by conducting thorough reviews of project documents, drawings, specifications, customer requirements and expectations and contracts
  • Oversees all aspects of the project finances: budgeting, cash flow, schedule of values, payment milestones, invoicing, change orders, back charges, reporting and final reconciliation (project closeout) – must be able to protect or increase project margins
  • Contributes to the preparation of specialized project and/or customer presentations
  • Responsible for management of meetings and contacts with project team members, both internally and externally, for maintaining clarity and understanding of requirements, expectations and objectives throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensures project clarity of requirements and objectives for design and engineering teams
  • Maintains consistent communication with the customer regarding work product, drawings, submittals, schedules, processes and expectations
  • Establishes fabrication production slots in accordance with the project schedules and action plans by coordinating directly with external vendors, suppliers and factory partners
  • Manages and administers purchase orders and work orders with external resources, vendors, suppliers, factory partners and logistics companies.
  • Engages technical consultants, advisors and sales managers as needed
  • Attends meetings to report on project status and backlog
  • Manage and/or help coordinate project delivery requirements, including material compliance and inspection, logistics, freight forwarding, shipping container programming, customs compliance and material inventory
  • Promptly addresses issues of material shortages, deficiencies and installation support
  • Follows and enforces processes, procedures and systems for exceptional project success
  • Primary focus will be on higher complexity projects

Qualifications

  • 10 plus years demonstrable experience
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management, or relevant technical field or equivalent working experience
  • Solid experience and understanding of PEMB and conventional steel framing systems
  • Skilled at reading and understanding project drawings and specifications
  • Capable of navigating and commenting on project documents (PDF, .dwg, .xls) using viewer and commenting/collaboration software
  • Firm grasp of project related finances: budgeting, cash flow, margins, and job costing
  • Clear understanding of scheduling concepts and impacts (critical path method)
  • Experience in the following software:
    • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) – proficient in Excel
    • CRM and project management/scheduling software
    • Plus: graphics and modeling (Sketchup, BimSight, or any BIM program)
    • Plus: AutoCad
    • Highly organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities and experience
  • Able to facilitate groups, manage external resources, and negotiate prices, deadlines
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Positive outlook with a forward-thinking global perspective
  • Team oriented and highly adaptive to various markets and project type
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – clearly able to relay technical concepts
