Building on a Vision
Bill Hettinger, freshly retired from the military, is turning his dream into reality. A few years ago Hettinger purchased property with the vision to relocate from the hustle of New Jersey and open a small business in West Virginia. Looking for a reliable, cost-effective solution for a storage facility and potential office, Hettinger sought the expertise of Allied Steel Buildings. Hettinger has
been erecting the 30′x46′x20′ prefabricated steel structure solo on free weekends when he has the time to make the commute.
The steel storage/office building is almost complete and now Hettinger is receiving design help from Allied Steel again, this time to find out the best way to utilize space. “I’m very happy with it so far, but I guess I really didn’t fathom the reality of it being 20′ high. Now I’d like to put in a second floor about 12′ from the ground floor. I have some ideas on how to accomplish this, but not being an engineer I’ll probably spend more money then I need to by over-engineering it to assure it is safe and sturdy enough for my use.” Allied Steel provides self supporting mezzanines that are perfect for Hettinger’s needs. He can install the mezzanine and easily take advantage of the ample space.
Hettinger is one step closer to achieving his dream, soon his Allied Steel Building will house sheet metal and personalized military mailboxes. Mr. Hettinger is an inspiration for small businesses and Allied Steel is proud to have assisted him with his design needs. Hettinger noted, “I made a comment to one of my neighbors in West Virginia that maybe I should have waited to purchase a building locally and he replied, ‘You wouldn’t have gotten a building of this caliber from around here.’ I realize after assembling your building that he was right. Thanks again for your fantastic product.”
