Tom Conley decided to call Allied Steel to inquire about a personal garage upon receiving a flier.
“I decided to call and see what they had to offer regarding buildings and what they could do for me,” said Conley. “They were able to customize the design for me, and I was very pleased.”
Conley purchased a 30’ X 46’ structure that could withstand gusts of 90 mph and 30 psf of snow.
“It came with the skylights, a ridge vent, and the doors were placed exactly where I wanted them. The structure also included a complete insulation and a 4” roof.”
Due to a few outside interruptions, Conley wasn’t able to store the building in his own backyard.
“The only problem we had were the zoning boards,” said Conley. “Here in Connecticut, they wouldn’t let us erect the solid dune the way we wanted to, so we had to put up a concrete foundation instead. That took a little bit of time, and concrete is a little scarce. We asked Allied Steel to store the building for about 6-8 months, and they did so. It worked out very well for us, and we were happy with their understanding and the help they provided.”
Once the foundation passed the zoning boards, Conley was able to take delivery of the building from Allied Steel and start erecting.
Having had experience putting up steel structures, Conley said that it couldn’t have been any easier, especially with the instructions provided by Allied.
“It’s just like a kid’s erector set, if you look at it that way,” said Conley. “I had someone else come in to put on the siding of the building. It wasn’t a chore with Allied Steel. Everything was there, and the blueprints couldn’t have been any easier to follow. Also, their Building Services Department was available to answer any questions I had. I would definitely buy another building from Allied Steel."
