If you're building it, he will come.
Eddie Poff knows a thing or two about building steel buildings.
In fact, for the past two years, he has built an average of one new steel building every week.
Poff and his crew of six men travel throughout the East Coast erecting buildings for every imaginable use: churches, school gymnasiums, garages, storage facilities, warehouses, manufacturing plants and more.
The one element that all of Poff's construction projects have in common? They are all Allied Steel buildings.
"I could work with any steel building company I wanted to," Poff says. "The reason I work with Allied is that they have the best after-sale service of any company - bar none."
Poff is hired to erect buildings for clients from Rhode Island to Florida , but he primarily builds for customers within a six-hour drive of his company's Greensboro , North Carolina home base.
After-sale service is important when you consider the amazing pace that "Team Poff" keeps each week.
The men hit the road late Sunday night or at dawn on Monday and drive to the job site, in the town that they will be calling home for the duration of the project.
The crew hits the ground running once they get on site, working exhausting 14-hour days to build the structure for their clients. The buildings are usually finished by Thursday night - and they're back on the road by Friday.
Most times, they head back for Greensboro . But other times, they move on to another job site in another state.
"It's tough. After we get off work at the end of the day, it takes everything I've got just to make it to the shower before hitting the sack," Poff says. "But once you're used to it, it's not so bad."
This grueling schedule is made easier, Poff says, because Allied Steel provides the best buildings, the best plans and the best service.
Poff says with the pace his crew keeps, he can't afford glitches in the materials, the specifications or the plans. He appreciates Allied Steel, he says, because virtually every time, the blueprints match the plans and all the pieces arrive on time and to the right specifications.
"I've used other companies, but Allied is by far the most consistent and dependable," Poff says. "I won't use anyone else."
Poff's proudest accomplishment is a client list that he says is "100 percent satisfied" with his crew's work ethic and the buildings they've built.
"You can call literally any customer I've worked with and they'll give me a recommendation," Poff says. "Not everyone who does what I do can make that statement."
Poff's reputation for quality earned him a job that brought him into direct contact with one of his passions: NASCAR. Poff's team built the personal garage for Winston Cup driver Ryan Newman.
"It was the most elaborate buildings I've ever built," Poff says. "To call it a 'garage' is kind of joke, this thing was huge and so clean you could eat off the floors."
