The Orlando team members of Allied Steel Buildings volunteered at Give Kids The World
Village in Kissimmee, Florida on Saturday June 4th, 2011. GKTW is a non-profit organization that gives children with life-threatening illnesses and their families a chance to visit the Orlando theme parks together. This is just the beginning of a series of programs for Allied Cares, the philanthropic mission Allied Steel Buildings has created to be a bigger part of the communities they live and build in.
Allied Orlando volunteers were stationed at the GKTW Gingerbread House, a busy restaurant that serves more than 400 guests each morning! From 7:30 am to 11:00 am duties included serving food, busing tables and cleaning dishes. Volunteers also assisted “wish families” by carrying trays to tables and assisted on any other request to make their experience perfect! After the restaurant was closed, team members washed, sanitized and vacuumed the restaurant.
Allied Steel Buildings Vice President, Benjamin Meister, noted, “Our first Allied Cares event was a success! Many thanks to our volunteers who all arrived early for their shift; we were prepared to work hard and we did. It’s a great feeling to be part of such a caring team, we all enjoyed the opportunity to help the “wish families” and donate our time to this outstanding organization.”
GKTW has many volunteer opportunities available. Allied Orlando team members can now sign up for individual shifts for the numerous amenities that include a movie theatre, video game room, pool tables, miniature train experience, horseback riding and more.
