Dell has partnered with Microsoft’s Bing Maps to create a comprehensive imagery processing “microsite” for StreetSide, Bird’s Eye, aerial and satellite imagery provided by Bing Maps. The extraordinary modular data center is located outdoors of all places and uses fresh-air and Dell’s “evaporated-cooling technology” to efficiently operate.
The revolutionary “microsite” is located in Longmont, Colorado on a walled compound to maintain protection. Also on the compound is an Allied Steel Building utilized partly as office space and storage. Allied Steel Buildings are energy-efficient and pre-fabricated which means construction times are half that of conventional buildings, two important factors in selecting building materials. A strict construction timeline for the compound was a top priority as Dell had less than three months to complete construction of Microsoft’s vision.
